The Jazz Perpetrators

For most folks September means back to work or back to school, but for The Jazz Perpetrators it’s back to indoor performances. Your favorite musical miscreants will shake the sand out of their sandals, put on real clothes and shoes, and swing their way through an evening of jazz and R&B favorites this Saturday night, September 9, at Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Wine Bar.

Smashing Grapes is located at 2383 Brandermill Blvd, Gambrills, MD 21054 in the heart of the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre. The Perps (including special guest Stafford Levy) will kick off their 3-hour performance of their patented “high spirits, low volume” sound at 8:30pm, so c’mon down and swing into fall with a perfect blend of fine dining and smooth jazz and R&B classics.

The Jazz Perpetrators are gonna squeeze in one last summer gig before fall sneaks up on us after Labor Day, and it’s gonna be a doozy. The Perps will play their final pre-fall fling this coming Sunday, September 3, from 5 to 8 pm at the dock bar at Pirates Cove in Galesville. This performance will feature vocalist Sterling Dorn who puts on a show like nobody else – when Sterling’s in the house, it’s always party time!

Pirates Cove is located south of Annapolis at 4817 Riverside Drive in Galesville. Come on down and savor that last sliver of summertime on the water before we all get inundated with pumpkins and Halloween costumes and candy. It may be called Pirates Cove, but you don’t have to have an eye patch or a parrot on your shoulder to enjoy the music – see you there!

Arrrrr…..is that a saxophone I hear??

The Jazz Perpetrators will be winding up their summer with a double-shot this weekend. First up will be a Saturday (8/26) evening performance at Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Wine Bar, located in the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre (2383 Brandermill Blvd, Gambrills, MD 21054). As with all shows at Smashing Grapes, this will be an all-instrumental performance (although the audience is encouraged to sing along if they know the words). As usual, the 3-hour performance starts at 8:30pm.

The next day, Sunday (8/27), The Perps will provide music for the Goshen Farm Preservation Society’s annual “Wine Down at the Farm” fundraising event, held outdoors at the Farm at 1420 Cape St. Claire Road, Annapolis. The Perps have been lending their hands and horns to the GFPS for several years now and will appear in full force with their crowd-favorite vocalist Sterling Dorn. When Sterling’s there, it’s always a party. The Perps will play from 4 until 7pm, so come on out and support a good cause while enjoying good wine and song. It’s hot outside, everybody knows that. But it’s going to be extra cool inside this Saturday night, July 22, when special guest Grant Menefee sits in with The Jazz Perpetrators at the Gambrills location of Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Wine Bar. It’s been a while since Grant, a world-class drum instructor and performer, has played with The Perps, so Saturday’s going to be a musical gift for both the band and everyone who catches this gig. It may not be Christmas anywhere else, but it’ll feel like it at Smashing Grapes, located at 2383 Brandermill Blvd, Gambrills, MD 21054 in the heart of the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre.

The Jazz Perpetrators will return to the Gambrills location of the Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Wine Bar this Saturday, May 20. The venue is located at 2383 Brandermill Blvd, Gambrills, MD 21054 in the heart of the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre. It’s the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the adult beverage of your choice while soaking up the sounds of jazz and R&B classics.

Chocolate bunny time is over!

The Jazz Perpetrators will be dusting off their horns from their mini vacay as they return to the Gambrills location of the Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Bar this Saturday, April 22. The venue is located at 2383 Brandermill Blvd, Gambrills, MD 21054 in the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre.

The Perps will kick off at 8:30 pm and deliver their patented “high spirits, low volume” sound until midnight, so c’mon down for a perfect blend of fine dining and smooth jazz and R&B classics.

The Jazz Perpetrators will be returning to the Gambrills location of the Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Bar this Saturday, March 18 (8:30-11:30).

This Smashing Grapes Gambrills venue, which is located at 2383 Brandermill Blvd, Gambrills, MD 21054, is rapidly becoming a hot spot in the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre. Per venue request, The Perps will deliver an all-instrumental performance of jazz standards, pop hits and R&B favorites done in their unique “high spirits, low volume” style. So come on out and feel the groove – see you there!

The Jazz Perpetrators have been lending a hand and a horn to the Goshen Farm Preservation Society’s annual fundraiser every year for almost a decade now (give or take a pandemic) and will continue that tradition this Sunday, March 12. The event – Java & Jazz – takes place at the Cape St. Claire clubhouse located at 1223 River Bay Rd, Annapolis, Maryland.

The Perps, who will be doing their hootin’ ‘n tootin’ from 3 to 5pm, will be joined by their vocalist, the one-and-only Sterling Dorn, who’s guaranteed to get things movin’ and groovin’. Come on out and hear some good music and support a good cause. This event is open to the public and free to attend; however, any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Now that February gigs are wrapped up, it’s time for The Jazz Perpetrators to get ready for another month of musical mischief. The band’s dance card for March includes:

• Sunday, March 12 (3-5pm): Goshen Farm Preservation Society’s annual Java & Jazz fundraiser at the Cape St. Claire clubhouse (1223 River Bay Rd, Annapolis, Maryland). This event is open to the public and free to attend; however, any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

• Saturday, March 18 (8:30-11:30pm): Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Wine Bar, Waugh Chapel Towne Centre (2383 Brandermill Blvd, Gambrills, MD 21054). Sit back and sip while The Perps swing – cool-a-mundo, daddy-o!

• Sunday, March 26 (10am-2pm): Blackwall Hitch Restaurant (400 Sixth Street, Annapolis, MD 21403). This is the place to be for a great mid-day dining and musical experience in Annapolis.

This weekend will feature a pair of Jazz Perpetrator appearances. First up is an 8-11pm performance at the Annapolis location of Smashing Grapes Kitchen + Wine Bar, located at 177 Jennifer Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 in restaurant row near the Annapolis Mall. This is always a fun place to catch The Perps in the act.

The band takes Saturday off and then closes the weekend with an appearance at the Blackwall Hitch’s famous Sunday brunch, performing from 10am to 2pm for all you early birds. The Hitch is located just past the Annapolis City dock at 400 Sixth Street, Annapolis, MD 21403 and has plenty of parking.
