The Jazz Perpetrators are taking time out from their private playing schedule to make a rare public appearance at this year’s Midnight Madness, an annual event hosted by the Annapolis Business Association and the merchants of downtown Annapolis. With the downtown area of town ablaze with lights and holiday decorations for this special occasion, shoppers will be able to catch the Perps jazzing up the holidays on Thursday, December 13, from 6 to 8pm in the Rams Head Tavern, located at 33 West Street near Church Circle.

Gussied up and ready to get listeners in the holiday mood, the band’s usual suspects (Jim “Mr. Smooth” Hession, Stu “Big Air” Bailey, Bob “Superbad” Cuellar, and Jeff “Youngblood” Bailey) will be joined for this gig by guest drummer “Jolly Old Saint” Nick Costa. Patrons will be sure to enjoy the Perpetrators’ patented PerpsXmasRedGreenhigh-spirited/low volume approach as the band swings through a special combination of jazz standards and holiday favorites.

Don’t miss out on this special opportunity to catch the Perps in a holiday mood while Christmas shopping and taking in the sights of the season in historic Annapolis.

The Jazz Perpetrators provided musical ambiance for the Annapolis Entrepreneur’s Exchange at that group’s annual membership appreciation party held at Homestead Gardens in mid-October. Brought back by popular demand generated by their performance at the previous EE party, the Perps kept things swinging with the unique high-spirited/low-volume approach they’re rapidly becoming known for.

Applying their formula of maximum talent + minimum volume = audience enjoyment, the Perps provided the perfect backdrop for EE members to relax, unwind and get their party groove on without going deaf in the process.

The Perps front line of Stu “Big Air” Bailey on saxes, Bob “Superbad” Cuellar on organ and Jim “Mister Smooth” Hession on piano kept the tunes flowing, supported by the band’s propulsive arrhythmia section of upright bass (provided on this gig by Jeff Bailey) and Stanley Hall on those jungle drums. All night long fingers were snapped and toes were tapped as the sleek combo did it again this year for the entrepreneurs and their guests.

Now that summer’s over, the Jazz Perpetrators, tanned and relaxed from their sonic vacation, are back and ready to dish up more of their sonic shenanigans. The first date is Sunday, Sep 16 (1 to 4 PM), for the Goshen Farm Preservation Society’s annual open house. The Perps and the Goshen Farmers go way back, the band having participated at various fundraisers for that organization over the past several years. This time around the Perps will be performing out on the front porch of the farm house, making it their first al fresco (Italian for “go outside if you’re gonna play that music, you’re driving your mama crazy”) gig. Guest bassist Bill Pachuki will be honorary Perp-For-A-Day as he joins the group’s arhythmia section; the rest of the band will consist of the usual suspects. Come on out and join the crowd at 1420 Cape St. Claire Rd. from 1 PM to 4 PM.

Next up, the Perps will provide musical entertainment for the annual Entrepreneur’s Exchange membership appreciation party, to be held on Thursday, October 18 at Homestead Gardens, just outside of Annapolis in beautiful Davidsonville.  The Perps will lay it down nicely from 6:30 to 8:30 PM for those captains of industry. The event is open to the public but to qualify for free food and an adult beverage, you’ll need to peel off a few bills.  Details can be found at www.eebiz.org.
