Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Jazz Perpetrators will NOT be performing at Crush Kitchen & Wine House this Thursday, May 15, as originally announced.

Sorry for the letdown, but fear not!  The Perps will be back soon.  Keep your eyes open for another email announcing our next performance, and check back here for updates as well.
Thanks!

The Perps in February: No Snow Job

Posted: February 13, 2014 in Uncategorized

Your favorite musical miscreants, the Jazz Perpetrators (also known local law and jazz enforcement officials as The Perps, The Orange Jumpsuit Specials, The Consultants of Swing and “those bums”) will be making their next musical smash & grab this coming Thursday, February 20, at the Crush Kitchen & Wine House, located at 114 West Street in ye olde colonial Annapolis. The groove kicks in at a civilized 8pm, so you won’t have to fight rush hour to catch the first tune, if you’re so inclined.

Playing jazz may be a crime, but at least the Perps won’t be breaking any noise ordinances (or eardrums) when they swing into action with their patented combination of high spirits at low volume. Dine, drink and chat away with your friends without having to resort to writing on napkins, using sign language, or texting to communicate with your dining companion(s). (WARNING: If you’re going to sit there and text all night, you won’t be able to use the band’s volume as an excuse – better think up another one ahead of time.)

So take a break from the snow, snow, snow and come and see the Perps show, show, show you how to have a relaxing evening out. Crush – located at 114 West Street, next to Loews Hotel and just a few blocks from Church Circle – is an ideal spot for kicking back with a glass of wine, some great food and friends and catching the Perps’ special brand of sophisticated sonic ambiance. Swing on down and get your grape on – the food and drink is available all night, and the band plays from 8 until their parole officer shows up. See you there!

Swing into 2014 With the Perps

Posted: January 10, 2014 in Uncategorized

Now that the holidaze are over and you’ve put away all the decorations and lived through the Polar Vortex, it’s time to thaw out and regain your je-ne-sais-what-the-hell with the area’s favorite low level bopsters, the Jazz Perpetrators. Beginning next Thursday, January 16, the Perps (as they’re known to all law and jazz enforcement officials everywhere) will be appearing in Annapolis at Crush Kitchen and Wine House on the third Thursday of every month, January-June. Start time will be later (8pm), so you won’t have to run a bunch of red lights to get there when the musical festivities begin.

Because they’re on a work-release detail, the Perps will be leaving the orange jumpsuits back at the big house as they perform dressed like normal jazzbos (if that’s not a contradiction in terms). Their MO remains the same: high spirits at low volume – the perfect combination for a little relaxation and socialization, and who couldn’t use some more of that?

The usual suspects will be performing their musical version of breaking & entering: Stu “Big Air” Bailey on reeds; Jim “Mr. Smooth” Hession on piano and international negotiations; Bill “His Lowliness” Evans on extra-bottom bass; Bob “Sexual Healing” Cuellar on the organ; and that guy making the “quiet” racket in the back.

Crush, which is located at 114 West Street, next to Loews Annapolis Hotel and just a few blocks from Church Circle, is an ideal spot for kicking back with a glass of wine, some great food and friends and catching the Perps’ special brand of sophisticated sonic ambiance. So swing on down and get your grape on – the food and drink is available all night, and the band plays from 8 until the paddy wagon shows up. See you there!

Santa’s little musical elves, the Jazz Perpetrators, will be featured again this Thursday, December 19, at Crush Kitchen & Wine House on West Street in Annapolis.  The Perps will be performing from 8 to 11-ish in the evening.  Warm your ears up with some hot jazz while sipping and nibbling on Crush’s menu of wines and foods.

With Christmas less than a week away, our musical miscreants will probably feature a few holiday tunes on Thursday in the hopes that Santa will hear.  And speaking of Santa, here’s a wish list: Stu “Big Air” Bailey wants some new reeds, Jim “Mr. Smooth” Hession wants a crystal brandy snifter with his name engraved on it; Bill “The Bottom” Evans wants his own standup special on Comedy Central; Bob “Sexual Healing” Cuellar wants a jet ski for his pool; and that drummer needs a lobotomy.

So, while you’re out shopping and enjoying the holiday atmosphere in Annapolis this year, make sure to stroll on by Crush and get an earful of jazz. Crush is located at 114 West Street, next door to the Loews Annapolis Hotel.

The Jazz Perpetrators are set to make their next appearance at Annapolis’ premier wine & food spot, Crush Kitchen & Wine House, next Wednesday, November 27.  If you need to relax after peeling potatoes, defrosting turkey, and de-lumping gravy in preparation for Turkey Day, this is your chance!

Thanksgiving is truly a day to spend with loved ones and friends, expressing gratitude for our blessings in this world.  The Perps are thankful for you, our faithful followers, and hope you will take a few minutes (or longer) out of your T-Day preparations to come see us at Crush and gobble on something other than turkey for a bit.  We’ll definitely make it worth the trip, and you’ll leave all mellowed-out for the next day.

So swing on over to Crush and get your grape on – the food and drink is available all night, and the band plays from 7 to 11pm. See you there!

The Jazz Perpetrators are set to make their next appearance at Annapolis’ premier wine & food spot, Crush Kitchen & Wine House this Thursday, November 7, and if the last gig is any indication, a great time can be expected.

Last time, Perps organist Bob “Superbad” Cuellar was unable to make the gig, but the band’s fans will once again get to hear him add his hot R&B stylings to the coolness that is the Perpetrators in full jazzbo mode.

Crush, which is located at 114 West Street, next to Loews Hotel and just a few blocks from Church Circle, is an ideal venue in which to kick back with a glass of wine, some great food and friends and catch the Perps’ special brand of sophisticated sonic ambience as they groove the night away with their special combination of low volume & high spirits. So swing on over to Crush and get your grape on – the food and drink is available all night, and the band plays from 7 to 11pm. See you there!

Get your goblin on and head over to Crush Kitchen & Wine House on Thursday, October 24, for a cauldron full of smooth jazz at a volume that won’t have your ears screaming in terror the next day!  The Perps will be playing from 7-ish to 11-ish at Crush, located in beautiful downtown Annapolis next to the Loews Hotel (114 West Street).

Don’t miss this opportunity to see and hear the Perps as they deliver their special combination of high spirits and low volume, the ideal sonic compliment to Crush’s warm European ambience.  The Perps specialize in foot-tapping (not bone-rattling) sounds!

The Jazz Perpetrators are set to jazz up the Entrepreneurs Exchange Signature Mixer this Thursday, October 17, at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, just south of Annapolis. The fun runs from 6 to 8 pm.

This event, EE’s fourth annual signature mixer, will feature the drawing for EE’s “Encredible Raffle” along with the Perps own special brand of high-spirited/low volume jazz-ma-nazz. Come join local movers and shakers (unlike Congress they know how to get things done) as they catch up with each other, make new contacts, exchange ideas, and generally celebrate life as it should be.

So put on your schmoozing shoes on and head on down for an evening of networking and relaxation, good food & drink and music that won’t rattle your teeth!  Homestead Gardens is located at 743 West Central Avenue in Davidsonville.  Admission to the mixer is $35 for EE members, $45 for non-members until October 16, then the price goes up by $5 on event day.  For info or to buy your tickets in advance, visit http://www.eebiz.org.
